This month, the Dont be a Cancer Chancer campaign is launched across Greater Manchester and Cheshire.
Cancer is a pretty scary word, but it can be treated. In fact, more and more people of all ages are surviving the disease and going on to live full lives.
Don’t Be a Cancer Chancer talks openly about the three most common cancers, lung, breast and bowel and raises awareness of their signs and symptoms. It aims to address people’s fears surrounding cancer and encourages anyone who spots symptoms to visit their doctor immediately.
If you notice any of the following symptoms, see your GP right away:
Bowel
A change in bowel habits for a few weeks or more. Blood in your poo. Unexplained weight loss.
Breast
A lump in your breast or changes to its size, shape or feel.
Lung
A cough that lasts more than 3 weeks, or a long-standing cough that changes. Coughing up blood. Unexplained weight loss.
